EU Report – “Simply improving digital literacy is not enough”

A new report from CEDEFOP, the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training, has examined the skills that people will need to keep up with new digital developments. In ‘People, machines, robots and skills’, the EU agency argues that, “evidence shows that to keep up with digital developments, simply improving digital literacy is not enough. Adults in jobs require at least moderate-level ICT skills also require a strong level of complementary skills”.

The report also predicts that future jobs will require digital, technical, and soft and behavioural skills, noting that, “the easier and more widespread validation of digital skills acquired through non-formal or informal learning would make them more visible and improve job prospects.”

The full report can be downloaded from the website of CEDEFOP.
