Limerick & Clare lead the way in modern office admin qualifications

Limerick & Clare ETB are leading the way in providing triple certified training for those looking for a qualification in Office Administration with their QQI Level 5 Major Award in Office Administration with Digital Marketing and ICDL.

The main focus of the course is employability and the ETB are using the ICDL brand as it is so recognised by employers.  Digitally competent employees add value to any organisation.

Integrating ICDL and QQI has helped increase overall efficiency and productivity for learners.  Preparation for interview, work experience and ICDL certification means that learners leave ready for the world of work or more confident in how to manage their workload more efficiently.

“We find that with the addition of ICDL exams at the end of the course further validates the skills that they have learnt throughout the year and they graduate with increased confidence and a high value, sought after skill set which is relevant to market needs and the workplace”, states Máire Roche, Course Leader.

The Level 5 Major Award provides learners with comprehensive training in all office skills and provides the confidence necessary to work in administration, clerical, secretarial or reception environments.

ICDL is integrated with QQI modules over nine months through face to face traditional classroom techniques and eLearning, covering eight QQI modules that include: Word Processing, Text Production, Spreadsheet Methods, Bookkeeping, Payroll, Information and Administration, Communications and Work Experience.

Learners also have the opportunity to achieve certification in Digital Marketing and ICDL.  This highly successful course offers a number of career pathways with proven potential to access employment or further education/training.

On completion of the programme learners have the knowledge, skills and competencies to work independently and under supervision, providing administration services and support in a range of office administration contexts.  Learners also have the option to progress to higher education and training.

The course is offered at the Further Education and Training Centre, Kilmallock Road Campus, Kilmallock Road, Limerick City, V94 Y6H. It is delivered in a dedicated ‘state of the art’ computer room with 20 learner workstations.  The training room is configured for ECDL diagnostic and live testing.  An additional advantage for learners is immediate feedback with instant results through online testing.

Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board is the mandated local education authority, legislated to provide education and further education and training within the Limerick and Clare region.

The Vocational Training Opportunities Scheme (VTOS) is a programme managed by the authority which enables those age 21 and over who are in receipt of unemployment benefit for 6 months to participate in the Further Education and Training Programme.

VTOS is aimed at those who wish to pursue careers in Business, Science, Work Placement, or Skills Based Labour Market Activation programmes. A number of VTOS programmes have pursued courses in Further Education and Training and in University.
