Five refugees fleeing the conflict in Ukraine have all passed an ICDL course in the midlands of Ireland.
Tipperary ETB received a referral to help a group of Ukrainians improve their English language skills to help them integrate into the local community.

This group of learners expressed an interest in IT and built on their skills to study and pass their ICDL certification exam in English.
The learners showed talent with computers but still had to overcome a language barrier and improve their English. So, they hit the ground running with the ICDL course to give context to the language and to help them learn practical words and phrases.
With the help of apps like Google Translate and Duolingo, the group worked closely together and helped each other out. Their determination and teamwork impressed their tutor, Liz Duggan, who also enjoyed discovering words that are similar in both English and Ukrainian with the group.
All five learners passed their ICDL certification exam on their first attempt and some have expressed an interest in further studies.
Congratulations to the learners – Вітаємо!
